What changed on 1 October 2026
Two kinds of message that used to be free are now charged. If your team replies to a lot of customers on WhatsApp, your bill can go up even if you send the same number of messages.

Incoming messages are always free, and so are messages that fail to deliver.
Conversations that start from your ads
When a customer messages you from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or your Facebook Page button and you reply within 24 hours, Meta opens a free window. Marketing, utility, authentication and service messages in it are not charged.
Your first 1,000 service replies each month
Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service replies a month. They don't roll over.

How does WhatsApp Business API pricing work?
Meta charges per delivered message. The price depends on the message category (marketing, utility, authentication, service or Meta Business Agent) and on the country code of the person receiving it. Messages customers send you are free, and messages that fail to deliver are not charged.
What changed on 1 October 2026?
Meta started charging for service messages (free-form replies to customers) again, after the first 1,000 per business phone number each month. Utility templates sent inside the 24-hour customer service window are now charged too. Nine countries, including Bangladesh, Kuwait and Morocco, moved from regional rates to their own rates.
Are the 1,000 free service messages per account or per phone number?
Per business phone number, per month. Unused free messages do not roll over, and the allowance resets at the start of each month.
Does this estimate include my WhatsApp provider’s fees?
No. It shows only what Meta charges. Many providers add a markup on every message on top of this. Mindlytics passes Meta's rates through with no markup.
Which currency will Meta bill me in?
Meta bills in the currency set on your WhatsApp Business account, from 16 supported currencies. Businesses billed in India must move their accounts to INR by 31 December 2026. The calculator shows the currency for the first country you pick.
What are volume tiers?
For utility and authentication messages, Meta lowers the rate once you send enough messages to a country in a month. Only the messages above each threshold get the lower rate. Marketing and service messages have no volume discount.
How often does Meta change WhatsApp prices?
Meta only changes rates on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October, and announces them in advance. This calculator updates automatically from Meta's published rate cards.
